The Newport Theatre Guild is currently in rehearsal for our
exciting production “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The cast is
composed of the most diverse group of young people we have ever had in any production
with representation from: Newport, Parrottsville, Cosby, Grassy Fork, Bybee,
Bridgeport, Del Rio, White Pine, Bulls Gap, Talbot, Morristown, and
Greeneville. In addition the production crew is lead by the youngest
group of individuals in the history of the Guild. Walters State Community
College student, Josh Davis, has adapted the script from the book and is
directing the production. Stephanie Barnes is choreographer and dance
instructor; Terry Cutshaw and Rebecca Arrington are stage managers.
Veteran member, Steve Davidson, arranged the musical score and will conduct a
group of youth musicians as the orchestra. Becky Davidson is production
manager. The production is a wonderful show for every age and the cast is
composed of age 7 to 60+.
