The Newport Theatre Guild was established to create in CockeCounty
a complete cultural arts organization to foster interest and participation in
creative expression.The Guild is
committed to involving youth and adults in the adventure of the artistic
world.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Goal 1:To bring the
wider world of art to our home region by producing and presenting a broad
repertoire of theatre and arts events.
a) Dramas
b) Music and musical plays
c) Dance
d) Gallery space for visual arts
e) Museum displays
Goal 2:To encourage
the people of our region to explore their own culture and find the art in themselves
in order to express that culture:
a) Seek out local composers, artists, craftsmen, writers, etc.
and encourage them to produce.
b) Provide a means to showcase their work
Goal 3:To create and
operate an arts and cultural facility for the county and region.
a) Build a comprehensive center that will serve the creative
performing and educational needs of the Guild and our region.
b) Employ an artistic director ( and staff) to plan and
oversee the programs of the Guild
c) Provide an administrator (and staff) to handle business
affairs of the Guild
( i.e. building
maintenance, ticket sales, advertising, etc)
Goal 4:To serve
schools, students and adults as an educational resource
a) Sponsor “Arts Alive” and similar programs
b) Sponsor a Junior Theatre guild
c) Have a resource library available to the public
d) Have a resource for costumes available to the public
e) Sponsor workshops for acting, speech, graphic arts,
dance, etc.
Goal 5:To maintain a
high standard of artistic excellence.
a) Continuing education, attending seminars and theatrical
productions
b) Invite critical evaluations if our efforts by qualified
people
c) Develop job descriptions for production and support
groups
d) Use apprenticeship methods for job training
Goal 6:To operate
with fiscal integrity and strive toward financial independence.
